Our structure

Although Audit New Zealand works with public entities throughout the country, our staff are based in seven locations – Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.

Our National Office, where our Executive Leadership Team and technical specialists are based, is in Wellington.

Our auditing teams are not geographically determined. Auditors are allocated to different clients based on the expertise the clients need, not on location. Our auditors are a highly mobile workforce. Working in this way also means our staff enjoy greater variety and challenges, and get to work with a range of skilled professionals.

Overall, we have about 240 staff. Many of them start their career with us through our graduates and summer internship programme and progress through from Assistant Auditor (levels 1, 2, and 3) to Auditor, Supervising Senior, Audit Manager, Associate Director, and Audit Director.
