Before qualifying as a chartered accountant
Interns join us before their final year at university. They get on-the-job work experience over summer holidays and, potentially, an offer to join Audit New Zealand as an Assistant Auditor (AA1) once they graduate.
AA1s become skilled in auditing various account balances and begin working on a portfolio of clients from day one.
AA2s may lead small client audits and will coach the AA1s. By the end of their second year they have experience with planning and completing a full audit cycle. This is the year they'll sit Foundations.
AA3s are responsible for the full completion of the audit of small to medium-sized clients, including supervising and coaching AA1s and AA2s. This is the year they'll attend PAS, sit PCE2, and become a Chartered Accountant.
