Audit New Zealand is the larger of two business units serving the Controller and Auditor-General. The other business unit is called the Office of the Auditor-General (OAG).

Together, Audit New Zealand and the OAG work to ensure that our public sector is operating for the benefit of all New Zealanders. We help to make sure that taxpayers and ratepayers are getting value for their money.

At Audit New Zealand, we examine the financial and non-financial statements of public entities. In addition to annual audits, we give assurance on everything from governance risk to ensuring the fairness of the Lotto draw.

Our job is to help our clients to have better financial and non-financial management and reporting. If we do that well – and we do – then we help create a better and stronger public sector. And that contributes to a better and stronger New Zealand.
