Gianni Milo

Assistant Auditor, Wellington. At Audit New Zealand since 2007.

Gianni Milo.

Starting at Audit New Zealand as an intern after my 3rd year of uni gave me a really good idea of what working here full-time would be like. I liked that right from the beginning I was out at clients, rolling up my sleeves, and getting involved. Even in my first year here, I was given responsibility, and analysing and solving problems on my own. At the same time I've always had the support of peers, supervisors and mentors when I needed it.

I've worked on some really interesting clients so far, like the New Zealand Film Commission, New Zealand On Air, Te Papa, and the Serious Fraud Office.

One of the things that I’ve found appealing about working at Audit New Zealand is that we go beyond auditing financial information and look at the non-financial performance of our clients as well – an aspect that I believe to be very important, particularly in the public sector. Looking at how our clients are achieving the goals they've set for themselves gives a more complete picture of an organisation, and I think this is one of the things that makes our job really interesting.
