I first came to Audit New Zealand as a grad and had a great experience. So when I was coming home after five years in London and they offered me an Audit Manager role, I jumped at the chance to come back.

I'm really passionate about improving the public sector and helping our clients to be better in everything they do. That's a big job and it includes things you wouldn't expect: measuring the chlorine levels in city councils pools to make sure they're safe for swimming, touring the rare art collections of our museum clients as part of our asset testing, checking ticket sales at stadium events to ensure that they were managed properly, and looking at local governments' long-term planning for waste management so that we know that they've come up with sustainable solutions. All of this is about assuring Parliament and the tax payer that their funds are being used wisely and that they're getting what they've paid for.

Now that I'm a mother myself, this kind of performance management has become even more important to me!
