We are the Auditor-General's in-house specialists. We support his work by providing public sector organisations like yours with greater levels of assurance in areas that really matter to you and your stakeholders - Parliament, local authorities, boards and the public.

Our assurance services complement our audit work. Our independence and integrity are fundamental to us. You can be confident that our assurance work meets international standards of auditor independence.

Our team

Our core team of assurance specialists come from industry and from public-sector backgrounds, both local and central government, as well as auditing. Our people have legal, accounting, project management, and engineering qualifications.

Each member of the team has been working on a wide range of assignments in the public sector. They understand they environment you work in and can provide "good practice" information for organisations like your own.

We regulary supplement our core team with other specialists from the Office of the Auditor-General, or from Chartered Accountancy firms. We also have access to a broad pool of knowledge from our international counterparts.

Peter Davies heads our Specialist Assurance Services team. Peter joined Audit New Zealand in 2004 after a successful career as a civil engineer and executive manager.
