2009 OAG sector brief matters
- The new Auditor-General signalled her areas of focus across the public sector – see the OAG's statement of intent for a sense of her priorities http://www.oag.govt.nz/2010/statement-of-intent/
- The OAG is conscious of audit fee pressure and this will influence the office’s decisions about audit scope
- No indication on the sector requirements for 2010 as yet
- But follow-up on 2009 recommendations will continue, including those on capital asset management and procurement
- The 2011 SSP reporting requirements against 2011 investment plans may trigger a focus in 2010 on the readiness of TEIs’ systems to report against the agreed basket of education performance indicators (EPIs)
- A formal debriefing with the OAG and the audit service providers in late June may have a bearing on 2010 brief
- Timeline for release of sector brief remains unchanged – 31 August 2010
