Update for staff in our Christchurch office

Temporary premises in Christchurch
9 March 2011, 4.55pm
We’re continuing to support our staff as they focus on getting back to normal after the earthquake.
On Monday 7 March, our Christchurch staff met together for the first time since the earthquake. The day included some of the scheduled training on the new Audit Manual, as well as a visit from Audit New Zealand’s executive leadership team. It was great to get together and start establishing some routine to life for our staff.
Also on Monday, the staff moved into their new (smaller) premises in Bishopdale. Our support staff will be based there, while most of our auditors will work from clients and from home. We are continuing to look for additional office space to support audit teams.
Many of our clients will also have relocated, so we know business won’t be “as usual” for some time.
We’re doing all that we can to support our staff and maintain their well-being.
Continuing support for Christchurch staff
28 February 2011, 6.20pm
Our Christchurch staff are continuing to support each other and are starting to focus on getting back to normal after the earthquake - though it will be a very different normal for them all. Some will be working on jobs with clients this week and we are doing all that we can to help everyone in the team during the recovery phase.
Our Executive Leadership Team has put in place special post-earthquake arrangements to support our Christchurch staff and their families during the next two weeks, and we'll continue to monitor the situation to ensure that everyone is taken care of appropriately.
We are looking for alternative office space in Christchurch as a matter of priority. We cannot yet access the Christchurch office building and it may be cordoned off for some time to come.
Christchurch staff need to contact their mentors to discuss allowances for special leave, travel, and other support. Please also contact our IT & IS Manager, Sarah Weavers, to keep her informed about your technology needs (for example, phones or laptops).
Audit Manual training will go ahead for Christchurch staff on Monday 7 March 2011, at the Copthorne Commodore Airport Hotel, Memorial Avenue.

We have closed the office until the end of Monday and will re-evaluate during Monday.
Over the next few days our Executive Leadership Team and some Corporate Services Team Managers will continue to liaise with Christchurch directors, making sure we are supporting you all in every way possible. We will also be considering issues relating to clients and our office.
We will keep you fully informed of any decisions we make and how we propose to support you during this time.
EAP counselling support available (by phone only for Christchurch staff)

Counselling services are being provided for people affected by the Christchurch earthquake through the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). EAP is currently working to get counsellors to Christchurch. In the meantime, if counselling support is required, Christchurch staff are urged to phone 0800 327 669. You will need to request a telephone counsellor if you are located in Christchurch. Staff outside Christchurch can EAP services as usual. EAP has told us that, later today, it will be providing information on how to counsel and support children affected by the earthquake.
